Looking for destinations that focus purely on bettering yourself? I’ll admit that I’m fascinated by retreats and resorts where the only goal is to eat healthy food, get your body in shape and relax your mind. So I wanted to look up, what I believe, are 6 of the best retreat destinations for 2015.
How did I research and find these destinations? I looked at places that offered services for working out, healthy eating, meditation courses, outside activities, beautiful scenery, yoga, chance for solitude, and high quality hotel amenities. Also I looked up destinations that I felt offered all the above plus easy to get to and relatively a great price for what you’re getting.
Big Island, Hawai’i

Okay first off, all the Hawaiian Islands are beautiful and each offer plenty of resorts for escaping. But the Big Island is the biggest and more remote offering a perfect retreat. The Big Island offers gorgeous scenery, direct flights from the US, beaches, solitude, quality food, fitness centers and plenty of spas. Below are the two best hotels for a Big Island retreat in my opinion.
Hawaii Island Retreat at Ahu Pohaku Ho`omaluhia
Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Ka’upulehu
Bali, Indonesia

Described as true paradise, Bali has always been known as one of the most scenic islands and a place to “escape it all.” There are many top-rated retreat hotels offering yoga, healthy eating, spas, meditation, beaches, culture excursions, arts and lush scenery. Keep it mind that Bali is known to be cheaper than many of the retreats I suggest here.
Sedona, Arizona

For Americans, Sedona is usually just one flight away, making it attractive for people who really need a retreat quick. There is only one retreat in the city, Mii Amo Spa, but it’s one of the highest rated retreats in the world. The desert has always been a source of inspiration for getting better, and for me the biggest draw is the remote landscape. The retreat offers spas, a fitness center, meditation, yoga and organic healthy food.
Tecate, México

Located in the desert near San Diego, California and just south of Tecate, México, Rancho La Puerta has become one of the première retreats in the world. It is the only resort in the area that offers spas, culinary experiences, nutrition advice, art, nature, and fitness. The prices run high for just one week but judging by the reviews, it looks worth it.
Bora Bora, French Polynesia

What can I say, Bora Bora is the place to go if you’re looking for unimaginable beauty. However it’s very expensive and I suggest people use as much of their miles and awards while booking. By nature these hotels are retreats of their own with many offering their own bungalows, cooking classes, spa treatments, fitness centers and of course the open ocean with the lush Bora Bora scenery for the background.
Himalayas, India

The Himalayas are a great place for a retreat, particularly in India. This is your chance to perch yourself in the mountains and truly disconnect while being half way around the world (if you’re American at least). All offer relatively great room prices for what you get with packages for spas, fitness centers, meditation, yoga, and healthy Indian food.
JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa
These are opinions of my own and suggestions of where I would go for a retreat based on reviews and research!
